إِذَا زُلْزِلَتِ ٱلْأَرْضُ زِلْزَالَهَا
idhā zul'zilati l-arḍu zil'zālahā
When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake

And the earth discharges its burdens

وَقَالَ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ مَا لَهَا

And man says, "What is [wrong] with it?" -

يَوْمَئِذٍ تُحَدِّثُ أَخْبَارَهَا

That Day, it will report its news

بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوْحَىٰ لَهَا

Because your Lord has inspired [i.e., commanded] it.

يَوْمَئِذٍ يَصْدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشْتَاتًا لِّيُرَوْا۟ أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ
yawma-idhin yaṣduru l-nāsu ashtātan liyuraw aʿmālahum
That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.

فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُۥ
faman yaʿmal mith'qāla dharratin khayran yarahu
So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it,

And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.

What Az-Zalzalah teaches
The earth will speak
On that Day the earth will tell its news, because Allah commands it (verses 4 and 5).
Every good deed counts
Whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it (verse 7).
Every bad deed counts too
Whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it (verse 8).
