Surah Al-Fatiha
The Opener: 7 verses in Arabic with transliteration and meaning.
Al-Asr is one of the shortest surahs of the Quran. In three verses it tells us how not to lose our time: believe, do good, and encourage each other to the truth and to patience.
وَٱلْعَصْرِ
wal-ʿaṣri
By time,
إِنَّ ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ لَفِى خُسْرٍ
inna l-insāna lafī khus'rin
Indeed, mankind is in loss,
illā alladhīna āmanū waʿamilū l-ṣāliḥāti watawāṣaw bil-ḥaqi watawāṣaw bil-ṣabri
Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.

Allah swears by time, so we know it matters (verse 1).
People are in loss, except those who believe and do good (verses 2 and 3).
Believers remind each other of the truth and of patience (verse 3).
Learn one verse a day and put them together at the end.
Ask your child: what good things can we do with our time today?
Like the surah says, remind each other kindly to be truthful and patient.
