Luqman the Wise and his son
Part 1A wise father
Long ago lived a man named Luqman, known for his wisdom and his deep faith in Allah. He wasn't remembered for wealth or power, but for wisdom: Allah had given him the ability to understand life, judge fairly and speak words that touch hearts.
The most famous of his teachings is the advice he gave his beloved son. Luqman sat beside him and spoke with kindness and love. He didn't shout or give harsh orders. He taught with patience.
Part 2The advice
First, the most important lesson of all: “My dear son, do not associate anything with Allah. Associating partners with Allah is a great wrong.” Allah alone created the heavens and the earth, and only He deserves to be worshipped.
Then: even a deed as small as a mustard seed, hidden inside a rock, in the heavens or in the earth, Allah will bring it out. Nothing is hidden from Allah. True character shows when no one else is watching.
Next: “My dear son, establish prayer, encourage what is right, forbid what is wrong, and be patient with whatever happens to you.” Prayer is a connection with our Creator, and doing the right thing sometimes needs patience.
Then Luqman taught him manners: don't turn your face away from people in pride, and don't walk on the earth arrogantly. Walk humbly and lower your voice; the harshest of sounds is the braying of donkeys. Our words can heal hearts or break them.
