Prophet Hud and the people of 'Ad
Part 1A mighty, proud people
Long ago, after the time of Prophet Nuh, there lived a mighty nation called 'Ad. Allah had blessed them with strength, wealth, large families and the skill to build great homes with tall pillars.
They became famous for their power, but instead of thanking Allah they grew proud. They worshipped idols instead of their Creator and believed their strength would protect them forever.
Part 2Hud calls his people
To guide them back to the truth, Allah sent Prophet Hud from among their own people. They knew he was honest and sincere. Hud called them kindly: “O my people, worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. Ask your Lord for forgiveness and turn back to Him. He will send you plenty of rain and add strength to your strength.”
Hud asked them for nothing. “I ask you for no reward,” he said. “My reward is only from the Lord of the worlds.” But the leaders mocked him and said proudly, “Who is stronger than us?” Their wealth and power had blinded them to the One who gave them their strength.
Year after year, Hud kept calling his people to worship Allah alone. Only a few believed. Most chose pride over guidance.
Part 3The cloud that was not rain
One day the people saw a huge dark cloud coming across the sky. Excited, they said, “This cloud will bring us rain.” But Hud knew it was not a cloud of mercy. It was the punishment they had been warned about: a powerful wind.
By Allah's command, the wind blew for seven nights and eight days without stopping. The nation that thought no one was stronger could do nothing against it, and only ruins were left behind. Hud and the believers were saved by Allah's mercy.
Hud had done his duty with patience and courage. Even when most of his people rejected him, he never stopped delivering Allah's message.
